HOW TO KEEP YOUR JEANS FROM FADING

How to Keep your Jeans from Fading:
1. Wash with like colors.
2. Turn jeans inside out.
3. Use cold (never hot) water.
4. Choose the gentle cycle.
5. Hang to dry.

If you’ve tried all of those and want to take things to the next level…
1. Before the first wash, use a cup of white household vinegar instead of laundry detergent.  It will seal the color so it doesn’t bleed as easily later on.
2. Salt is a preservative, so fill a washtub with 1 gallon of cold water and 2 tablespoons of salt, and soak your jeans for an hour before washing.
3. Instead of washing the jeans, put them in the freezer— the idea is that the germs will freeze off. Only wear the jeans once or twice at a time if using this method.

Any tips I forgot?  Let me know in the comments!

HOW TO MAKE YOUR MAKEUP LAST

How To Make Your Makeup Last:
Start with a primer, which will basically act as a shield between your makeup and any oil or sweat that may (okay, will) occur during the day.  I’ve heard great things about L’Oreal Paris Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer.
Make a base for eye makeup by wetting an eyeshadow brush and then sweeping on some beige or taupe powder eyeshadow.  So cheap and so easy- who knew?
I can’t recommend liquid eyeliner highly enough.  I know it takes some practice to use, but if you’re anything like me, the time is much better spent perfecting the skill than rubbing off raccoon eyes caused by pencil liners every single day at 3pm.  Try Covergirl LineBlast 24 Hour Eyeliner.
Definitely go for a waterproof mascara.  I’m a sucker for mascara marketing campaigns, so lately I’ve been using Maybelline Volum’Express Colossal Cat Eyes, but Maybelline Great Lashhas been my standby ever since I read about it in Seventeen Magazine a decade ago.
I got a tiny sample of Benetint cheek stain in a magazine a year ago, and have been using it ever since.  I suggest using a stain instead of a powder blush because it blends right in so it looks natural, and you don’t run the risk of it falling off your face little by little throughout the day.  Does anyone know of a cheek stain available at drugstores?  Don’t know what I’m going to do when this sample runs out!
Choose a silicone-based lip color- the silicone will make it less likely to sink into fine lines in your lips.  I’m usually more of a lipgloss kind of girl, but lots of people love Maybelline SuperStay 14HR Lipstick.
Finish with a powder, which will seal your makeup in place and help reduce shininess.  One of my best friends swears by Covergirl Clean Pressed Powder.
Oil has a way of sucking up makeup and making it disappear super fast, so combat any extra oil or shine with blotting papers.  I’ve been a fan of Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets since my first middle school dance and still carry them with me in my purse every day.

One thing I don’t know: how to choose a foundation that will stay on all day without clogging your pores.  I feel like there’s always something new out there, and can never tell the different products apart.  Anyone know of a good foundation?  Help me and your fellow readers out and share in the comments!

STAIN REMOVALS

It happens to everyone, even the CHIC-est of them all! LUCKILY, we’ve got tips to share on how to remove those horrible stains using what you already have.
Remember: Always treat the stain BEFORE laundering. Heat will set a stain so use COLD WATER when treating.
Olive Oil –>Baking Soda
1. Blot the stain for excess oil.
2. Apply baking soda and let set for for 5-10 minutes. The baking soda should turn a brownish color from the soaked up oil.
3. Remove dried baking soda from stain.
4. If stain is heavy, repeat steps and then throw in the wash on cold.
Coffee –> Dishwashing Detergent
1. Squirt clear dishwashing detergent onto the stain and rub gently.
2. Allow detergent to set for approximately 15 minutes.
3. Rinse with cold water.
4. Add 1/3 cup of vinegar to 2/3 cups of water
5. Blot stain with the vinegar/water mixture.
6. Rinse with cold water then throw in the wash on cold.
Red Wine –> Vinegar:
1. Dab the stain with a damp cloth (do not rub stain)
2. Using white vinegar, pour onto a cloth (not the stain itself) and dab at the stain.
3. Let vinegar set for 5-10 minutes and rinse in cold water.

MTV Movie Awards 2013

Hey guys!

As with most red carpets that are skewed towards teens, there were some major misses by so many “stars” we have never actually heard of, but we will skip those in favour of those who hit it out of the park. MTV’s House of Style host Karlie Klosslooked like a smokeshow in a two-piece Cushnie and Ochs ensemble. The white-hot bodycon ensemble was finished off with a pair of Gucci heels. To boot, her new-to-2013 cropped bob was looking superb with an accentuated part. Zoe Saldana also showed off some skin in a Givenchy Fall 2013 (hell yes to friends in high places) look that matched florals with sheer polka dots and a thigh-high slit.
Chloe Grace Moretz was a denim dream in a patchwork Louis Vuitton dress and studded T-strap heels. She kept her beauty on the simple and age-appropriate side with a messy waterfall of curls and fresh faced skin. On the complete flip side, simple was not the name of the game for Selena Gomez who wore an embellished Julien Macdonald mini dress with a bouffant that transitioned into a side-braid.
As per usual, Emma Watson look cool and trendy as she celebrated winning 2013’s Trailblazer Award in a Maxime Simoens dress. The watercolour print dress with cut-out detailing was mirrored with a cut-out in her Proenza Schouler shoes. And with the bright look of the night was Kerry Washington. The Django Unchained star wore a Michael Kors dress with a canary yellow skirt and train, which she matched to her clutch. The look was bright, bold, and unexpected.
Who was your favourite on The MTV Movie Awards red carpet?

STRETCH YOUR SHOES

Hey guys!

Ok, so we all have that fabulous pair of heels that we HAD to buy even though they were a teensy bit too tight. I mean, beauty is pain, right?! Wrong! Don’t suffer in your shoes!! Check out this little tip I picked up through some friends on how to add some room to your shoes.
Simple Steps:
1. Put on some thick socks (or a few pairs of thin socks.)
2. Squeeze on those snug shoes.
3. Grab your blowdryer and focus on the tight points of the shoe–flex your feet for better results.
4. Keep your shoes on your feet until they have cooled and VOILA!
